Ain't nobody got time for that: Tips + Tools for Social Media Management
Listen, we get it. Managing your social media is time-consuming. Between generating new content, managing multiple platforms, and digging through the analytics to see what's working, what's not, who is engaging, and what the conversion rate might be...it's a full-time job. I am ALWAYS a fan of hiring someone who is an expert for things that take me four times as long to complete, but maybe you don't have $1,000 to put towards someone taking over and steering the social media ship for you.
We have a few management tips for your toolbox to help you manage mulitple pages.
Step 1: Save your hashtags somewhere you can find them. Personally, I love evernote. I can access it anywhere and I have organized notebooks per client or partner. I save one note per client with hashtags to remember to use for #motivationmonday or #tuesdaytip, in addition to top-searched tags for that specific industry.
Step 2: Engagement is KEY and emojis don't count. The facebook, instagram algorithm is updating on a regular basis. Right now it's all about engagement. Set yourself a timer for 15 minutes two times a day and "talk" to people. Comment on pages you know your target market it following, and say something relevant. I guarantee you will get some social media love in return.
Step 3: Find a tool that works for you. Between planning social media posts, scheduling social media posts, and posting to your accounts, there are several options that can help you get sh** done.
Here are just a few:
- Buffer - gorgeous user interface, works with a wide variety of social accounts, and their browser extension makes it super easy to share web pages. Even more exciting (for social media nerds like us) is their analytics feature to help you measure key social growth metrics
- CoSchedule - A content marketing calendar. If you don't plan it, it's not likely to happen, or at least not with the same impact. Do you have a blog of your own on Tumblr? Well now there's an app for that. CoSchedule works with Tumblr as well!
- Hootsuite - One of the first big social media management tools, Hootsuite works with two additional tools that others don't - YouTube Channels and Wordpress blogs. This a perfect hub for scheduling and publishing as well as monitoring social mentions and comments.
